Be AWARE of YOURSELF

The 30-day Wellness Guide:
more strength and vitality in your everyday life

Your thoughts create your reality. Literally! Did you know that the average person things between 40,000 and 60,000 thoughts a day? From the moment we wake up to the point at which we fall asleep, we are thinking. That's quite a lot!

What we think creates something in our lives. Our thoughts and belief systems manifest themselves in our reality, even if we don't want them to.

Consider the following: Your thoughts affect your feelings. Your feelings affect your actions. Your actions create your life. You are the creator.

"An inability to notice our true feelings
leaves us at their mercy."

Daniel Goleman, American psychologist

People with greater certainty about their feelings are better pilots of their lives. The key to sounder personal decisions is, in short, being attuned to our feelings.

1.    Write down your thoughts

It helps if we can see our thoughts and feelings in front of us in black and white. That way, we become conscious. On the one hand, of the thoughts that are repeating themselves and catapulting us into negative feelings. And on the other, of the thoughts that make us feel happy and relaxed.

So here are some suggestions to help sort out the jumble of thoughts:
   - What are you thinking about right now?
   - What is there that goes around over and over again in your head?
   - How do you feel right now?

2.    Allow yourself enough sleep

It's obvious that unhealthy sleep patterns affect the way we feel all day. Appetite increases, we become hypersensitive and our immune system is permanently weakened, to mention just a few points.

Our cells regenerate themselves at night. The body gets some rest and recharges its energy reserves. According to the latest research, the most valuable deep sleep takes place before midnight. Put this knowledge to use. Allow yourself some peace.

3.    Keep a gratitude diary

Focus creates reality. Once our spirit concentrates on the things for which we are grateful, feelings of contentment, calm and happiness develop.

Before you go to sleep, take five minutes to write up your gratitude diary. See how you feel afterwards. Do you feel more peaceful and relaxed?

It's also a wonderful ritual to practise with children.

Being aware of yourself is the basis for greater clarity. This will encourage activities that nourish your soul. Whether it's a matter of private or of professional goals, a clear spirit is motivating.
